Dr. Jason Cao is a professor at the Humphrey School of Public Affairs, University of Minnesota, Twin Cities. He holds a Ph.D. degree in Civil and Environmental Engineering and a Master’s degree in Statistics from the University of California, Davis, and a Master’s degree and a Bachelor’s degree in Civil Engineering from Tsinghua University.

Dr. Cao specializes in land use and transportation interaction and planning for quality of life. He has published more than 150 peer-reviewed papers. He is internationally well-known for his research on residential self-selection in the relationships between the built environment and travel behavior. He is currently leading the niche of machine learning applications in land use and transportation as well as satisfaction research. According to Google Scholar, Dr. Cao’s H-index is 67, which makes him among the top 10 most cited urban planning scholars in North America. In the field of transportation and logistics, he ranks 26th among the Stanford University-Elsevier Top 2% of World Scientists. He is also among Clarivate’s list of highly cited researchers-2024. Dr. Cao is the Co-Editor-in-Chief of Transportation Research Part D, a top-tier international journal in transportation, and an associate editor of Transport Policy and Journal of Planning Education and Research.

曹博士在2015-17年担任IACP主席,为国内外规划相关领域学者提供学术交流平台。卸任后,他一直支持IACP的发展,与理事合作以IACP名义组织各种学术交流活动。
Dr. Cao was the Chair of IACP board of directors during 2015-17. He established WeChat groups, which have become important platforms to facilitate communications among planning-related scholars worldwide. After his tenure, he has been supporting the development of IACP. Collaborating with IACP board directors, he has organized many academic activities on behalf of IACP.
