Recent projects include welcoming\/inclusive cities, creative economy, urban innovation, residential and occupational accessibility and mobility, and (im)migrant entrepreneurship in global cities. Her research has been supported by the U.S. Department of Housing and Urban Development (HUD), the Lincoln Institute of Land Policy, the Haynes Foundation, the Kauffman Foundation, Regional Studies Association, and Upjohn Institute for Employment Research, among others. During 2018-9 she is the president for China-America Association for Public Affairs (CAAPA).
