Kyung-Min Nam is Associate Professor in the Department of Urban Planning and Design at the University of Hong Kong (HKU) and holds a PhD from the Massachusetts Institute of Technology (MIT). He currently serves as Assistant Director of the HKU Centre for Urban Studies and Urban Planning and Assistant Program Director of the Bachelor of Arts in Urban Studies Program. He is also a research affiliate of the MIT Joint Program on the Science and Policy of Global Change and of the Spatial Economics Lab at Seoul National University (SNU), and has held visiting scholarships at the world’s leading universities, including MIT, SNU, Columbia, Tsinghua, and Chulalongkorn Universities.

Dr. Nam’s research interests focus on the institutional and policy dimensions of economic and environmental sustainability, such as climate-mitigation policies, air pollution regulations, and various spatial policies on regional convergence and industrial upgrading, taking econometric and computable general equilibrium (CGE) approaches. His scholarly work has been widely published in the field’s prestigious journals, such as Urban Studies<\/em>, Global Environmental Change<\/em>, Research Policy<\/em>, and Energy Economics<\/em>. Dr. Nam is currently Associate Editor of the Annals of Regional Science<\/em> (Springer), and has also served on the editorial boards of the International Journal of Urban Sciences<\/em> (Taylor & Francis), the Journal of the Korea Planning Association<\/em> (\u570b\u571f\u8a08\u5283), and the Journal of the Korean Economic and Business Association<\/em> (\u7d93\u6fdf\u784f\u7a76). He is currently conducting several research projects, including “Growth and Distribution Effects of Improved Cross-border Connectivity in China-Indochina Peninsular Economic Corridor” and “Emissions Trading in the Greater Bay Area.”
