Dr. Zhong-Ren Peng, Professor and Director of iAdapt: International Center for Adaptation Planning and Design at the College of Design, Construction and Planning, University of Florida, has been a cornerstone in the establishment and growth of the International Association for China Planning (IACP). His contributions have been instrumental in shaping the organization and advancing the field of urban planning.<\/p>\n

As a prominent scholar in urban and regional planning, he has made original and seminal contributions to critical areas such as adaptation planning for climate change, resilient transportation planning, drone-based transportation and environmental monitoring and studies, and AI-driven urban planning. His research consistently ranks in the top 2% globally across all scientific fields, as recognized by Stanford University\u2019s list, and he was frequently invited as a keynote speaker at international conferences, including the renowned European Forum – Alpbach.<\/p>\n

\u4e0eIACP\u7684\u5173\u7cfb Relationship with IACP<\/strong><\/p>\n

\u5f6d\u535a\u58eb\u4e0e\u5176\u4ed6\u91cd\u8981\u7684\u53d1\u8d77\u4eba\u548c\u7ec4\u7ec7\u8005\uff08\u5982\u6c88\u9752\u3001\u7ae0\u5ca9\u548c\u5f20\u660e\uff09\u4e00\u8d77\uff0c\u5728IACP\u7684\u521d\u671f\u5efa\u7acb\u4e2d\u53d1\u6325\u4e86\u5173\u952e\u4f5c\u7528\u3002\u5728\u7ec4\u7ec7\u6210\u7acb\u4e4b\u521d\uff0c\u4ed6\u8d1f\u8d23\u8d77\u8349IACP\u7684\u7ae0\u7a0b\u3002\u4ed6\u7684\u7ecf\u9a8c\u3001\u613f\u666f\u548c\u5949\u732e\u7cbe\u795e\u4e3aIACP\u7684\u6210\u529f\u5960\u5b9a\u4e86\u57fa\u7840\u3002\u4f5c\u4e3a\u6700\u521d\u7684IACP\u7406\u4e8b\u4f1a\u6210\u5458\u4e4b\u4e00\uff0c\u5f6d\u535a\u58eb\u670d\u52a1\u4e86\u516d\u5e74\uff0c\u5c55\u73b0\u4e86\u4ed6\u5728\u4fc3\u8fdbIACP\u793e\u533a\u53d1\u5c55\u548c\u589e\u52a0IACP\u5f71\u54cd\u529b\u7684\u70ed\u60c5\u548c\u6295\u5165\u3002<\/p>\n

Dr. Peng, working with other critical initiators and organizers such as Qing Shen, Yan Zhang and Ming Zhang, played a pivotal role in the initial establishment of IACP. At the start of the organization, he was responsible for drafting and passing the organization’s foundational bylaws. His experience, vision, and dedication laid the groundwork for IACP’s success. Serving as an initial board member for six years, Dr. Peng exemplified his passion for fostering collaboration and excellence within the planning community and increasing the impacts of IACP.<\/p>\n

\u57282012\u5e74\u81f32014\u5e74\u62c5\u4efbIACP\u7406\u4e8b\u4f1a\u4e3b\u5e2d\u671f\u95f4\uff0c\u5f6d\u535a\u58eb\u5c55\u73b0\u4e86\u5353\u8d8a\u7684\u9886\u5bfc\u529b\u3002\u4ed6\u53d1\u8d77\u7ec4\u7ec7\u4e86\u9996\u6b21\u201c\u5168\u7403\u89c4\u5212\u5b66\u9662\u9662\u957f\/\u7cfb\u4e3b\u4efb\u8bba\u575b\u201d\uff0c\u52a0\u5f3a\u4e86\u4e2d\u56fd\u89c4\u5212\u9662\u6821\u9886\u5bfc\u4e0e\u4e16\u754c\u5176\u4ed6\u89c4\u5212\u9662\u6821\u9886\u5bfc\u7684\u8054\u7cfb\uff0c\u8fdb\u4e00\u6b65\u4fc3\u8fdb\u4e86\u5168\u7403\u89c4\u5212\u754c\u7684\u5b66\u672f\u4ea4\u6d41\u3002<\/p>\n

During his tenure as Chair of the IACP Board from 2012 to 2014, Dr. Peng demonstrated strong leadership. He spearheaded initiatives such as the Dean\/Chair\u2019s Forum of Global Planning Schools, which strengthened the connections between Chinese planning program leaders and their global counterparts, facilitating meaningful exchanges of ideas among urban planning researchers and scholars worldwide.<\/p>\n

His initiative in connecting planning scholarship with municipal practice by organizing post-conference tours to cities like Teng-Chong and Cheng-Du, and establishing the Global Planning School Dean\/Chair’s Forum has been particularly impactful. It fostered collaboration and knowledge exchange among global urban planning leaders, increased the visibility of IACP, and set a model for subsequent IACP conferences.<\/p>\n
