Dr. Kerry Fang is an Associate Professor in the Department of Urban and Regional Planning at the University of Illinois, Urbana-Champaign and Tschangho John Kim Scholar in Urban and Regional Systems. She specializes in urban economic development and land use policy, with a decade of experience exploring why some regions thrive while others struggle and what policies can drive equitable growth, job creation, and innovation.

Her research, spanning the U.S., China, Australia, and Russia, examines both the benefits and consequences of economic development, from technological shifts in labor markets to climate impacts and farmland preservation. She integrates methods from economics, geography, sociology, and computer science, and has published over 30 peer-reviewed articles in top journals, including Journal of the American Planning Association and Journal of Planning Education and Research. Her research projects have been funded by federal and state agencies such as the U.S. Environmental Protection Agency and Florida Department of Transportation.

A recognized leader in planning, Dr. Fang serves on the editorial board of the Journal of the American Planning Association. She also chaired the Economic Development Track and the Ewing Marion Kauffman Foundation Awards Committee for the Association of Collegiate Schools of Planning (ACSP). She also served as the Chair of the Holzheimer Memorial Scholarship for Economic Development Planning Award Committee for the American Planning Association (APA) and Professional Development Leader for the Urban Affairs Association (UAA).

方丽博士积极参与IACP事务已逾十年,通过专业研究、学生指导、与担任领导岗位等方式不断为学会贡献力量。她多次受邀在学会活动的专家论坛上发言,并通过担任最佳学生论文奖评审委员会委员,为培养新一代学者发挥了重要作用。

她的贡献获得了IACP的高度认可,并因其突出的研究成果而获得 Rising Scholar Award(2020),以及表彰其在IACP会议中的积极参与而授予的Travel Awards(2017)。方丽博士于2025年当选为IACP新一届教授理事会成员,她会将自身的经验与热忱带到IACP理事会,为学会未来发展贡献更多力量。

Kerry Fang has been an active member of IACP for more than a decade, contributing to its mission through research, mentorship, and leadership. She has played a key role in IACP events as an invited speaker on expert panels and has helped shape the next generation of scholars by serving on the Best Student Paper Award Review Committee.

Her contributions have been recognized with prestigious IACP honors, including the Rising Scholar Award (2020) for her impactful research and the Travel Award (2017) for her engagement at international planning conferences. Committed to advancing the association, she looks forward to bringing her experience and dedication to the IACP board.
