Topical Collection on Human-Centered Urban Digital Twins and Policy Insights on Computational Urban Science

One of International Association for China Planning (IACP) members, Qian-Cheng Wang from City University of Hong Kong, is serving as a co–Guest Editor for an upcoming topical collection in Computational Urban Science.

The topical collection is currently calling for paper submissions. Please find the detailed call for papers below.

Topical Collection

Computational Urban Science is currently inviting submissions to the Topical Collection “Human-Centered Urban Digital Twins and Policy Insights” from scholars worldwide. Researchers in related fields are warmly welcome to submit your work!

01   Aims & Scope

This topical collection focuses on interdisciplinary, human-centered, data-driven research on urban dynamics. We welcome work that combines methodological innovation with real-world urban applications, to contribute to the building of more livable, equitable, sustainable, and resilient cities.

This collection supports research related to United Nations Sustainable Development Goal SDG 11 (Sustainable Cities and Communities).

02  Key Topics

We welcome submissions on (but not limited to) the following themes:

  1. Data-driven sensing, modeling, simulation, and prediction of human activities within urban systems.
  2. Geospatial AI and urban digital twins for representing and simulating human–urban interactions and supporting decision-making.
  3. Computational analysis of urban mobility, including spatiotemporal patterns, uncertainty, multimodal travel, and emerging mobility trends.
  4. Integrated studies connecting human activities, urban environments, climate processes, and sustainability.
  5. Decision-support tools for urban planning, governance, regeneration, and smart city development using human activity data.
  6. Comparative analyses of human-centered urban dynamics across diverse economic, social, cultural, and institutional contexts.
