SUN, Hantao, PhD Student, Cornell University, USA

Hantao Sun is a PhD student in City and Regional Planning at Cornell University. His research focuses on “ordinary” small cities and the epistemological alternatives they offer to mainstream urban knowledge. He previously worked as a planner in Georgia and earned degrees from Renmin University of China and Cornell. Active in IACP since 2023, he has been an engaged discussant and questioner. As a board member, he hopes to promote the voices of “otherness” often left out of urban discourse—those shaped by heterogeneity, marginality, and lived complexity—through dialogues that are retrospective, pluralistic, and always open to being challenged.
