(Research Direction and Social Contribution)

Dr. Wang’s research focuses on migrants, civic engagement, community development, and inclusive governance, with particular attention to social equity in urban governance. She combines large-scale spatiotemporal behavioral data, including mobile phone signaling data, with fieldwork materials accumulated over time, developing a research approach that integrates “big data” and “thick data.” Her work systematically examines how urban spaces shape individuals’ everyday behavior, how everyday behavior influences social interaction and intergroup integration, and how these micro-level processes, in turn, generate governance outcomes. Her research has been published in leading Chinese and international journals, including Landscape and Urban Planning,Cities, Acta Geographica Sinica, and City Planning Review. In recent years, she has served as principal investigator for multiple projects funded by the National Natural Science Foundation of China and the Natural Science Foundation of Zhejiang Province. Dr. Wang also actively translates her research findings into urban governance practice. She is a co-inventor on a granted Chinese invention patent and serves as a trainer and project advisor for grassroots community governance initiatives in Hangzhou.
