董晓夏 (Dr. Xiaoxia Dong)

Dr. Xiaoxia Dong is an Assistant Professor of City and Regional Planning (effective July 2024) in the Stuart Weitzman School of Design at the University of Pennsylvania. Dr. Dong received his Ph.D. in City and Regional Planning and Master of City Planning degrees from the University of Pennsylvania. He holds a Bachelor of Arts in Urban Planning from the University of Utah.

Dr. Dong is motivated to study the impact of new transportation services and technologies on travel behavior, transport systems, and the built environment. He also studies traffic safety and equity and access in teen driver training. Dr. Dong’s current projects include an investigation of the impact of driverless cars on pedestrian crossing behavior, and an analysis of the effectiveness of adult-supervised training in improving teen learners’ driving skills. His short-term research plan includes examination of the impact of transportation on land use and inequality. Dr. Dong’s work has been published in peer-reviewed journals such as Journal of American Planning Association and Journal of Planning Education and Research.
